China, Burundi pledge to strengthen ties

China has pledged to work together with Burundi to strengthen mutual trust and mutually beneficial cooperation to achieve common development.

The chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Yu Zhengsheng made the pledge after meeting with Burundian Senate speaker Reverien Ndikuriyo in Beijing.

Yu said both sides need to promote people-to-people exchanges and implement the outcomes of the Johannesburg summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

He also noted that the CPCC National Committee was willing to have friendly exchanges with the Burundian Senate and political parties to learn from each other.

Ndikuriyo said Burundi attaches great importance to ties with China and the Senate is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the CPPCC National Committee to contribute to bilateral relations.
