A fire that broke out at 2am burnt down a school dormitory leaving seven students dead and ten others injured in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi.
The country’s Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i confirmed the incident at Moi Girls School Nairobi adding that the injured are admitted to hospital.
“Out of the 10, two are in critical condition, doctors have told us the other eight are out of danger,” he said.
The school has been closed for two weeks as investigations by a team of forensic experts including the government pathologist begin on the cause of the fire.
The Cabinet Secretary however said the students who are preparing for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examinations will resume on Friday and will be assisted to settle.
