Nigerian President ready to go home, waiting on Doctor’s permission

The President of Nigeria, Mihammadu Buhari, has said that he feels ready to return home to Nigeria but is waiting for the doctor’s go ahead.

74-year-old Buhari who is in London on medical leave due to undisclosed illness has spent the better part of 2017 abroad seeking treatment.

According to the statement released on Saturday by the Nigerian Presidency there is tremendous improvement in the President’s health.

Buhari received the presidential media team in Abuja house in London yesterday, where the team expressed delight at the much improved health of the President, he retorted: “I feel I could go home, but the doctors are in charge. I’ve now learnt to obey orders, rather than be obeyed.”

President Buhari was in London from January to March this year on a sick leave, then again from May to date for further treatment.

Nigeria’s Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has been in charge while the ailing President has been away. There has been speculation around the leader’s health, with some unsure if he will manage to finish his term let alone seek a second term.

“President Buhari sent appreciation to all Nigerians, expressing hope that he would be with them soon,” said the statement by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President,Media and Publicity.
