Indomitable Lions hope to beat Australia to keep Confederations Cup hopes alive

Africa Cup of Nations champions Cameroon will face Australia today in their second game of the 2017 FIIFA Confederations Cup hoping for a better result than their last outing.

The Africans lost their first game of the tournament against Chile, and will now have to beat the Australians if they are to have hope of progressing into the semifinals.

The game is a must-win for Australia too, after having lost to Germany by 2-3 in their first match.

Cameroon will be hoping their vaunted winger Christian Bassogog has a greater impact against Australiathan he did against the South Americans.

Bassogog was named the player of the AFCON tournament in January, a performance that earned him a lucrative move from Aalborg BK in the Danish top flight to the Chinese Super League. The Indomitable Lions will hope his pace and directness test Australia’s defence out wide, while Vincent Aboubakar, the Besiktas striker, tries to assert his aerial presence in the Socceroos box.

In the other game, Chile will face off with 2014 World Cup champions Germany, with a win for either side guaranteeing a slot in the semifinals.
