Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has denied allegations of rape through a statement by his representatives, reports ESPNFC.
The statement said that the allegations that were published by a German Magazine claiming that the Real Madrid star had paid a woman to cover up rape, are all a ‘piece of journalistic fiction’ and are ‘disgusting and outraging.’
“Today, the German newspaper Der Spiegel published a long article regarding an alleged accusation of rape that would have been directed at Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009, about eight years ago. The article is nothing but a piece of journalistic fiction. The alleged victim refuses to come forward and confirm the veracity of the accusation,” read the statement by Gestifute, the sports Management Company founded by Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes.
The 32 year old Portugal international star is reported to have allegedly raped the woman while holidaying in Las Vegas. The star is said to have made a payment of $375,000 to the lady ,whose identity has been withheld but said to be her twenties, after legal negotiations in 2010.
The agency said, “The accusations reported by the Der Spiegel are false, and Cristiano Ronaldo will do everything in his power to react against these. An accusation of an act of rape is disgusting and outraging, and he will not allow it to hang over his reputation.”
