Ethiopian Minister of Foreign Affairs Workneh Gebeyehu on Thursday called for the enhancement of a win-win partnership with Algeria, praising Algeria’s role in Pan-Africanism.
Gebeyehu was speaking at the opening ceremony of the 4th session of the Algerian-Ethiopian Joint Committee which he co-chaired with Algeria’s Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ramtane Lamamra.
“Algeria has always been a leader in the Pan-Africanism, working for social and economic integration. It has played an important role to that end, and we seek to develop a win-win partnership with it,” Gebeyehu said.
The Ethiopian FM added that the session was an opportunity to strengthen relations between the two countries.
He also underlined the “convergence of views” between the two countries on regional and international issues of common interest, especially as regards the coordination of positions on African and international issues.
“The two countries have developed close and strategic relations,” he said. “We have not exploited all potentialities, especially in the economic field.”
The Ethiopian Foreign minister said that his country would spare no effort for “an integrated, peaceful and stable Africa.”
