Pastor Patrick Mugadza has been arrested by the Zimbabwean Police after claiming that veteran President Robert Mugabe will die in October, reports AFP

“He was appearing at the court on a different matter when police arrested him during a break and charged him over the prophecy,” said Gift Mtisi, the Pastor’s lawyer to AFP

Defence lawyer, Gift Mtisi, says that his client believes he was merely conveying God’s message according to the Eyewitness.

The pastor announced that Mugabe would die on October 17th during his press conference last week. Contrary to Zimbabwe law that forbids “undermining the authority of or insulting the president.”

President Mugabe who turns 93 next month has been in power since Zimbabwe got its independence from British colonial rule in 1980.

The Church leader was arrested several times in 2016 and charged with criminal nuisance and for draping himself with the country’s national flag without seeking permission from the country’s authorities.

“It was on the 26th of December 2016 when I was in Prayer and God said to me this coming year 2017 the President is dying and he told me that he is dying on 17th of October, like I said earlier on that I am not happy for somebody to die but, this is something that is going to happen” the Pastor is quoted by the New Zimbabwe
