Ghana electoral body to release results on Thursday

Ghana’s electoral commission says it will start releasing the results of the presidential and parliamentary elections on Thursday.

The commission’s spokesperson Eric Dzakpasu called for calm in the West African country as the results of the elections are expected tomorrow.

The country’s main opposition New Patriotic Party had already urged the commission to publish the results, arguing that the delaying of the results would create suspicion over its credibility.

The elections are believed to be a tight race between incumbent President John Mahama and long-time opposition figure Nana Akufo-Addo.
