Somali Returnees: UN assessing conditions for return home

More than 70,000 Somali refugees have confirmed they plan to return home voluntarily from refugee camps in Kenya.

60 percent of them want to do so before the year is out. That’s according to the UN’s refugee agency. Kenya wants to shut down Dadaab, a camp holding around 300 thousand refugees. But there have been concerns about what awaits them back home. Over the weekend, the UN sent a team into Jubbaland, in southern Somalia…to assess conditions on the ground.

CCTV’s Soni Methu joined them on the mission.
