Uganda’s government will use over 1.2 trillion Ugandan shillings (355,656,000 US dollars) in the next five years for programmes under the newly launched Early Childhood Development (ECD) policy reports The Daily Monitor.

The government aims to tackle the plight of children especially in the rural areas and among the urban poor by investing in the new policy which among other things will see at  least one ECD centre established in every village, in these centres early nutrition and welfare issues of children between birth and eight years will be addressed.
