Gabon international Didier Ibrahim Ndong has joined English Premier League side Sunderland from Ligue 1 outfit FC Lorient for a fee believed to be around £16m.
Ndong becomes Sunderlands all-time record signing after he was officially announced by the The Black Cats.
The previous record signing was fellow African Asamoah Gyan from Ghana, who was acquired at a fee of £13m.
Today marks deadline for transfers and as such, many English clubs are moving fast to make last-ditch deals to boost their squads for the new season.
Already Cote d’Ivoire’s Wilfried Bony has joined Stoke City on a season long loan deal.
