Shocking images have emerged showing the location where Kenyan Olympic athletes that are yet to travel back to their country were hosted, causing an uproar among the East African nation’s social media users.
Marathoner Wesley Korir, who is also a Member of Parliament in Kenya, published the images on his twitter handle, prompting agitation among Kenyans.
The pictures show the athletes, including 800m bronze winner Margaret Nyairera, in an area with dilapidated houses.
The emergence of these images comes after the country’s Sports minister Hassan Wario was grilled by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations over the crisis that befell the Olympics team during the Rio Games.
Wario then disbanded the country’s National Olympics Committee and tasked Sports Kenya to probe the Rio mess.
Kenyan’s on twitter have since been pouring their anger out on the minister, demanding for his resignation following the mess, under the tag
