The US has issued a travel advisory against Ethiopia following the anti-government protests that have rocked parts of the country.
In a statement issued on Friday, the US State Department advised Americans to avoid areas where violent clashes between protesters and government security forces have taken place, mostly in the regional states of Amhara and Oromia.
The statement stressed on the need for the US citizens in Ethiopia to avoid demonstrations and large gatherings.
Telephone and internet services in Ethiopia have been limited due to the recent protests. This, according to the statement, has prevented the US embassy from communicating with Americans in Ethiopia.
