New technology allows one to skip the waiter and order using a Bluetooth mat

A Japanese tech company has come up with a novel way to make ordering your food a lot easier and quicker.

The new way involves using an app on a tablet or smartphone and then placing it on a high tech table known as the Paper Beacon mat that senses your exact location.

The Paper Beacon processes the order, identifies the exact location of the customer and prints out the docket without anyone having to visit the table. It uses an indoor location technology called TagCast.

The device has been jointly developed by companies Teijin and TagCast .The two companies met at a tech trade show in Tokyo a few years back and the development of this product took about 6 months.

While PaperBeacon has many potential uses, at this stage TagCast is only offering it to restaurants to allow customers to order from a menu without having to interact with staff.
