Kenyans on social media have joined forces to condemn terrifying police brutality witnessed in the country’s capital, Nairobi, as the police dispersed opposition protesters who were urging electoral commission reforms ahead of next year’s poll.

The East African nation’s opposition leaders, including former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, led mass protests to demand the resignation of the country’s electoral body’s commissioners, when police moved in to disperse the protests.

Pictures later emerged of the police brutally beating some protesters up, angering the Kenyans on Twitter, commonly known as #KOT.

Under the hashtag #StopPoliceBrutality, twitter users in the country have condemned the excessive force used by the police, scenes that even prompted international media to condemn the way in which the police broke the protests.
