Uganda defends its human rights record

Ugandan authorities now say confining the main opposition candidate Kizza Besigye at his home is justifiable by law.

This follows a statement by the U.S. that accuses Uganda of violating rights and freedom of its people and the media.

The country’s deputy government spokesperson Shaban Bantariza told CCTV that the claims by Washington are unfounded.

The US warns that the recent actions by Ugandan government and security forces could endanger the two countries’ relationship.
