Consumers in South Africa are beginning to feel the economic effects of the drought,with red meat prices escalating over last few weeks.

This comes as a direct result of the drop in supply in the market as many farmers who were forced to slaughter their livestock early to offset the pressure on grazing lands and feed costs.

Consumers are now faced with that difficult decision of whether red meat becomes a necessity or a luxury.
