The Federation of Uganda Football Associations has threatened to withdraw the national team from the on-going 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers because of continued financial constraint.
The FA President, Moses Magogo told Xinhua news agency on Monday that the team needed 210,000 U.S dollars to play Comoros away on the 5 September.
Magogo said that they had no option but to withdraw if he funds they requested for are not granted.
If Uganda decides to withdraw then it stands to pay huge fines and also be banned for close to three years by the Confederation of African Football, the continent’s football governing body.
The FA is now looking at government for funding.
Uganda and Burkina Faso are currently top of Group D of the 2017 Afcon qualifiers after starting with 2-0 wins over Botswana and Comoros respectively.
