Security forces in the Central African Republic have beefed up their operations in the capital Bangui.

Police have been cracking down on former Seleka rebels turned politicians. Several former rebels were arrested as they were heading to a political party meeting on Thursday. Residents have welcomed the decision to have local police take a more active role in security in the country.

There’s been growing anger at French peacekeepers who have been handling security.
