South Africa: Parliamentary Committee Formed to Probe Zuma on Nkandla Report

The Speaker of South Africa Parliament, Max Sisulu has decided to form a 12 member Parliamentary committee, from different political parties to consider President Jacob Zuma’s response, to the country’s Public Protector’s Report on upgrades to his private residence Nkandla, valued at around R246-million. The ad Hoc Committee has a mandate to study the Public Protector’s Report that found President Jacob Zuma and members of his family guilty of unduly benefiting from the multi-million rand upgrades made to his Nkandla residence. The committee will then advise Parliament on the way forward after considering the report as well as President Zuma’s response to it.
