Cameroon are the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations champions after they came from behind to beat record champions Egypt 2-1.

The Indomitable Lions went behind in the 27trh minute after Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny found space in the box to rifle a volley into Fabrice Ondoa’s net.

The teams went into the break with the North Africans ahead, with proceedings looking like they would replicate the 2008 final that Egypt won 1-0.

After the break however, Cameroon came all out attacking, with a keen intent of getting a goal.

They were rewarded in the 59^th minute through a Nicolas N’Koulou header, and from then on never looked like they would ease their foot on the gas.

With the crowd roaring them on, the Indomitable Lions took the lead in the 88^th minute after beautiful work from Vincent Aboubakar, who controlled the ball amidst the Egyptian defence before slotting home to send the Stade de l’Amitie into thunderous cheers.

The Cameroonians hang on to win the game, giving them a fifth AFCON title, a result that was also a perfect revenge for their 2008 loss to the Egyptians.

Some Europe-based Cameroonian stars have missed out on this feat after they snubbed coach Hugo Broos call-ups for the AFCON tournament.

The Indomitanle Lions will now be Africa’s representatives at the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia.
