Manchester United and Wales football legend Ryan Giggs was in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, to showcase the UEFA Champions League trophy.
Egypt is the only Arab and African country on the tour. Giggs praised the Pharaohs’ performance at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon, where they reached the final against Cameroon. He took the ‘Big-Ears’ trophy to the famous Giza pyramids and the Egyptian Museum, promising to return to the North African country.
The 43 year-old’s trip was part of UEFA’s tour, which now heads to Asia.
The footballing legend promised Egyptians that he will be back for a second “longer” trip to visit the country.
“My trip in Cairo is a short one, but I enjoyed it thoroughly. What a trip it has been,” the British footballer said during a press conference at an Al-Ahram Beverage event in Cairo.
“I offer my sincere thanks to the Egyptian people for how they made me feel since I stepped out from the airport in Cairo,” Giggs said.
