After a hectic election year, the United States of America has a new president.
Donald Trump was sworn into office on Friday and is now faced with leading a country that’s been left largely divided after the run up to November’s polls. Among his promises he’s pledged to increase economic growth, be tougher on immigration and repeal the American Affordable Care Act. But with regards to US-Africa relations, the former businessman has been noticeably quiet.
So when it comes to things like the African Growth and Opportunity Act- AGOA, PEPFAR and general relations with the continent, will Donald Trump take as hard a stance as he has on other issues? Or will America’s change of guard in fact work in Africa’s favour?
