CGTN Africa was launched five years ago as CCTV Africa, before rebranding to the former on December 31,2016. The African bureau focuses on delivering African content, going deep into each corner of the vast continent to achieve this.

Initially, CCTV Africa did only one news hour each day. Five years later however, with an ambition that keeps growing, it has three broadcast hours per day, and this is still expected to grow in the coming days.
